Mele Kalikimaka!

Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) from the Rodgers family! We hope that you and your loved ones have had a joyous day celebrating the birth of Jesus!

We also celebrate the birth of our new nephew on Christmas! Devin and Lori (Curt's sister and her husband) had their baby today! Dayton has officially joined the family! Congrats to Lori and Devin!

Christmas Eve morning we made and decorated cut out sugar cookies for Santa. The kids had a ball with the cookie cutters and sneaking bites of dough. The decorating proved to fun also with lots of frosting and candy adorning the cookies. Surely Santa was refreshed by the sweetened goodness at our house! :)

In the afternoon we were able to talk with our families on Skype. We opened gifts from Curt's side of the family as well. It didn't take the kids long to rip into the gifts and start playing with their new toys.

We enjoyed a great Christmas Eve church service also. Our church actually does the service at the Hyatt in Poipu and has alot of visitors attend.

This morning the kids were up bright and early playing with their new toys. They were so busy, in fact, that they didn't seem to really care that Santa had brought more presents. Since they weren't in a rush to open gifts, we waited a little bit. Just like yesterday, it took them no time at all to open everything. Both kids have really had fun playing with all their new gifts. Our family will open the gifts from my (Sarah's) side of the family next week after my parents arrive. They fly in on New Year's Eve and we're so excited to have them visit!

We didn't really have plans for the day other than opening gifts. By lunch time we thought that staying home to relax and play sounded pretty good. We did that for the most part but also decided to drive to Polihale beach to watch the sunset. The kids enjoyed running on the beach. Although it was a little cloudy sunset, it was still gorgeous. Merry Christmas everyone!
