Hiking at Waimea Canyon

It's Sunday now and all of our family is either back on the mainland or on the way there. We enjoyed having visitors for the past ten days. It was so great to spend time with them! We're already looking forward to our next visit to the mainland in June.

Saturday morning we went on a hike at Waimea Canyon with Curt's parents. We drove to the last lookout at the canyon and started our hike from there. It was gorgeous weather for a hike. With all the rain we've had lately, it was a little muddy. Daniel enjoyed being our tour guide and all the climbing we had to do. We were planning to hike to the Pihea Vista but didn't quite make it that far. Someone else on the hike told us he turned around when he reached the vertical wall of mud (yikes!). Curt and I hope to do the hike ourselves again (without kids) and continue from the Pihea Vista on the Alakai Swamp trail.
